EULANDA® ERP System Head Start thru Technology
The first step in the installation process is the language selection. This decides which language is used when installing and executing the EULANDA® ERP software. Our sales department informs you on available languages. Normally the pre-selected items will install the correct language, since it is the same than already installed on the workstation / server. Please note, that different languages require different license keys.
In case the the installation process does not start automatically, please check whether the Auto-Start function of you CD / DVD player is activated. In this case open the file explorer (or MyComputer) and go to your CD / DVD drive; start the installation program "SETUP.EXE" manually.

Language selection
Next step after having selected the language is the regular CD start menu. Normally the EULANDA® ERP software including the Microsoft® SQL Server 2000 Desktop edition (MSDE) will be installed. In case the target computer has already a SQL Server installed, that server will be used and no new instances of the SQL Server is installed.

Start screen of the CD-Installation in English
Execute the first option from the menu "EULANDA with SQL Server" on that machine, where the database, the SQL Server and the EULANDA® ERP shall be installed.
Before installing you should backup the machine, specially the drive on which you will install the software as well as your system drive. The installation procedure was developed with greatest care and tested thoroughly, but under laboratory conditions only freshly installed operating systems were used. However it is not impossible that existing drivers or installed software may prove incompatible and may cause the operating system to crash. Therefore a complete backup is more than a mere precaution.
We recommend to install the EULANDA® ERP entirely on the server, as described above. The front-end software EULANDA® ERP does not install any DLL's in any system folders or alters the windows registry in any way and therefore is more than "server-friendly".
On the workstation create links to the EULANDA.EXE on the server.
This way, you only need to update one system next time, when a new release is available.
If any of the workstations runs Windows® 2000, the database connectivity tools (MDAC) have to be installed. These are included on the CD.
On workstations connected via WAN (Wide Area Network) - branch offices connected via ISDN - we recommend to install each of these PC's the classical way. Select the option "EULANDA without SQL Server".
New security defaults from Microsoft, since Service Pack 3 SQL Server and Service Pack 3 for Windows® XP require small adjustments in the Firewall as well as with the protocols to allow EULANDA® ERP to connect with the SQL Server on the network. These settings are described in the chapter Network installation.
In case no valid license key is entered, EULANDA® ERP may be installed as trial version only. In this case no transaction date can be older than 30 days. The dates are taken from the oldest to the newest transaction - not the entry date.
After finishing the raw installation, start the program from "Start/Program Files/CN Software GmbH/CN Eulanda".

Start screen first start
The main menu (start screen) allows to select from different clients. Each clients represents one database available on the SQL Server. The SQL Server can be located locally or on the network (LAN / WAN). The menu is described in detail in the chapter "Start menu" and additionally in the user's handbook, and of course in the online help.
Initially no client is installed and therefore no database available. This is recognized from the software and the program requires you to supply the necessary information where the SQL Server can be found.
to install a new client, right click in the master menu and follow the instructions given.
In this dialogue you decide whether the SQL Server is installed locally (single user) or on the network.
The option "Network Server" is disabled, when the software can not detect any network as well as the other way around, when no local server is detected.
To connect to the SQL Server, EULANDA® ERP requires either the IP number or the NetBios name of the machine hosting the database server program. If installing a single user, leave this field empty - the name of the local machine will be inserted automatically. When using a network server, you should enter the respective IP number. You may enter the name of the server, internally however the name will be dissolved, requiring net access. In case you do not know the network name of the server, you may look it up in the file explorer under network.
Please note the name of the server does not require the backslashes ("\\") as prefix. Simply input the name only. To avoid unnecessary DNS queries use the IP number instead of the network name.
To initially install the database it is mandatory you'll use the SQL administrator identity, which as per default is "sa". If this is a first time installation, "sa" is the only user available on the SQL Server. In case the SQL Server has been installed earlier, request the SQL administrators name and password from your network administrator.
If the SQL Server has been installed on a NT Server and you want to use the NT Security instead of the SQL Security (Username / Password), leave the user name empty. EULANDA® ERP then uses the NT account of your login. In this case you have to be logged-in as network administrator.
If a user logs on to a domain server, no further logins (eg. to a database server etc) are no required.
If you can not use the NT security, never use your current password or that of the administrator for the database connection, since it will be stored unencrypted.
Normally, every user name has a password attached. However, when installing a SQL Server (MSDE) the first time, you leave this field empty, since at the time of installation, no password is assigned. When using a full version of SQL Server, you can assign passwords, using the Enterprise Manager. If you use the provided Desktop engine, you find a posting in the knowledge base concerning this topic.
Enter the name of the client. Usually this is a short form of your company's name. The name can contain characters and numbers. The name may NOT start with any number.
After completing the dialog box you will be connected to the database server. and the database will be created. All defaults are initialized. This may take up to 15 min.
If you have followed the tips at the beginning of this chapter for setting up the EULANDA® ERP on a network server, than all you have left to do, is creating a link to the EULANDA.EXE on the server, on to the desktop of each individual PC.
If you decided to use the classical installation, the EULANDA® ERP has to be installed on each workstation. In this case the start screen will be shown on each PC - only difference is, you need not to install a database, but only the connection to the already installed database.
